Job Title: Accountant
Reporting Structure: Fiscal Applications Manager
Division: Fiscal Affairs
 
Job Summary: Job duties include reviewing and posting of all budget transactions, preparing historical data for management reports, maintaining financial system's integrity and functionality, supporting external departments and software users.

 
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assists Manager with technical support and staff training.
  • Ensures general ledger system is used efficiently, data collected and maintained in formats necessary for existing reports.
  • Produces activity reports for Director on daily/weekly/monthly and annual basis.
  • Assists Manager in completing daily workload.
  • Assists departments with system related inquiries.
  • Assists Manager in maintaining chart of accounts by completing new chart-field requests.
  • Assist with implementation and training of system related projects.
  • Assist with building system queries.
  • Contributes to the overall success of Fiscal Affairs by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong analytical skills, good oral and written communication skills, confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail, teamwork, basic systems understanding.
Experience with financial educational systems.
 
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of progressive computer application, budgeting, or management experience, and two years of experience with current enterprise resource planning software.
 
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
  • Experience working in accounting in a higher education environment Experience working with accounting systems
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Preferred knowledge with the Jenzabar Financial Software
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Higher Education Fund Accounting

 

 
Physical Requirements:
Requires some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, frequent light lifting (5-15 lbs.); and manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment; extensive periods of time at a keyboard; occasional hours outside the normal University schedule.
