Curriculum & Certification Program Assistant Manager

BARGAINING UNIT: MEA Administrators , Range IV
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $55,214.87 - $72,042.91

DESCRIPTION: Assists with the management of Maine Fire Service Institute statewide curriculum and certification program. Acquires and implements national standards based criteria for firefighter, fire instructor, fire officer and other fire service subject matter.
Assists with the administration of the statutory state voluntary certification program. This position reports to the Deputy Director/Director as a member of senior administrative staff and requires availability for a variable work schedule, including statewide travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. degree plus 7-10 years of fire service experience and training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proven strong leadership and customer service skills - 2 years
- In-depth knowledge and supervision of performance based training and contextual training and education systems - 3 years
- Full range of personnel management/interpersonal dynamic skills - 2 years
- Project management skills - 4 years
- Progressive fire service experience to include firefighter, fire instructor and fire officer - 10 years
- Incident Management Systems skills - 2 years
- Curriculum development and course design - 2 years
- State/National certifications - Firefighter I & II, Fire Instructor I & II, Fire Officer I-IV
