Job Overview
The Indiana Bar Foundation is seeking a dynamic and passionate Civic Education Program Manager to create, track, and execute civic education programs and initiatives, including but not limited to We the People, High School Mock Trial, US Senate Youth Program, Indiana Kids Election, and Indiana Legislative Youth Advisory Council. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, demonstrate excellent communication abilities across a variety of stakeholders, and have a deep commitment to advancing civic education. This role involves managing staff, coordinating resources, and managing the development and execution of civic education programs, ensuring they align with organizational goals and values. This is a 40-hour/week position, occasionally requiring evening or weekend hours. Travel around the state is required, some national travel possible.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program & Event Management: Create the infrastructure for program management and execution of the Foundation’s civic education programs. Lead the planning, execution, logistics, and evaluation of the civic education programs, ensuring timely delivery of key objectives. Lead and direct the various regional and state level civics events and work with vendors, local partners, schools, volunteers and other stakeholders to plan and execute approximately 20-25 events annually.
  • Supervision & Leadership: Supervise the Civic Education Program Specialist, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Develop metrics and reporting mechanisms to track program success, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring program and organizational goals are met.
  • Budget Management: Consult with the Director of Civic Education to inform budget creation. Assist in management of program budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Project Management Expertise: Proven track record of managing multiple complex projects from conception to completion, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering results with limited supervision.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, community members, educators, and funders.
  • Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team, providing effective oversight and development opportunities.
  • Passion for Civic Education: A deep commitment to promoting civic engagement and knowledge among diverse communities.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to evaluate program performance and make data-driven decisions to enhance program impact.
  • Financial Management: Experience managing program budgets and ensuring effective use of resources.

Experience, Abilities, Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, political science, public policy, communication, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit program management, education, or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Canva, Zoom, and project management software.
  • Experience working with educational institutions, government agencies, or civic organizations preferred.
  • Hold valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel around Indiana.

Salary and Benefits
Salary for this position is commensurate with education and job experience, planned for $55,000-$65,000. The Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including insurance premium coverage for medical, dental, vision, and long-term disability, employer HSA contributions, 10% employer 401(k) contributions, and three weeks paid time off.
