Position Summary:
The Distance Education Business Instructor works within the College of Business and Economics Distance Education program and reports directly to the Distance Education Program Director. This role involves teaching across multiple business disciplines in both face-to-face and online formats. The instructor's teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses such as introduction to business, introduction to operations management, organizational behavior, and business administration (among others). Other business courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be assigned as needed to support the program's curriculum.

The teaching load for this position is the equivalent of eight 3-credit hours sections per academic year with up to five different preparations. A teaching load of seven 3-credit sections is available if the instructor maintains "Scholarly Academic" (SA) Qualification as defined by AACSB. An additional course release is available if preparing a large number of new classes in a semester. Many classes taught by the Distance Education Business Instructor will be delivered via an online asynchronous modality at the undergraduate and graduate levels, however, the instructor will teach at least one (or more) undergraduate business face-to-face course per semester on the University of Idaho's Moscow campus.

Instructors in the college are responsible for outcomes, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment and provide syllabi to the department head each semester. Additionally, the instructor is responsible for collecting assurance of learning (AOL) data for the Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) assessed in their courses. The Distance Education instructor may also be assigned student advisees who are enrolled in the College of Businesses & Economics Distance Education degree programs and occasionally participate in outreach and other activities.

The incumbent will serve as a champion for the University of Idaho and higher education, advocate for the College of Business Economics' Purpose, Mission, and Value Statements, and help foster positive changes within the department. The incumbent will also contribute to our vibrant university community in Moscow. Outreach and service will be assigned by the Director of the BBA Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA or MS degree in business or allied field
  • Experience teaching asynchronous online courses
  • Experience teaching in two or more business disciplines



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., D.B.A., etc.) in business or related field
  • Industry experience
  • Record of teaching excellence delivering online asynchronous courses
  • Record of excellence in course design
