Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Nursing Faculty will be responsible for curriculum development, evidence-based instruction, student outcomes assessment, and ongoing program evaluation. The Faculty member will be an essential part of the nursing program and the student’s educational experience for the future nursing program. The Faculty member will engage professionally in CCA’s mission by participating in institutional advancement, professional development, and community service in the pursuit of student success. This is a 9-month contract paid over 12 months adhering to a typical college schedule.

OVERVIEW OF CCA 

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. More than 20 different languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the purpose, mission, and objectives of the Nursing Education Program. 
  • Designs, implements and evaluates the curriculum using a written plan. 
  • Develops, evaluates and revises student admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within the policies of the governing body. 
  • Participates in the academic advising and guidance of students utilizing the Student Success Plan. 
  • Plans and provides theoretical instruction and clinical or laboratory experiences that reflect an understanding of the mission, objectives, and curriculum of the Nursing Education Program. 
  • Plans, monitors, and evaluates the instruction provided by ANIP’s. 
  • Evaluates student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice. 
  • Supports the Nursing Department with the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of ANIP’s.  
  • Designs and implements instruction strategies to assist the nursing student meet the nursing program outcomes. 
  • Facilitates learning in the various settings to include didactic, clinical, simulation, or skills lab, evaluating learner achievement. 
  • Contributes to institutional accreditation activities. 
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders to design curriculum. 
  • Gather and analyze student data to support continuous program improvement. 
  • Supports nursing student recruitment efforts in collaboration with student services departments. 
  • Attends faculty meetings and participates in committees that support the mission of the nursing program and College. 
  • Demonstrates professionalism and quality customer service.
  • Engages in professional development. 
  • CCA Nursing Faculty and Coordinator teach 15 credits during the fall and spring semester, and 10 in the summer.  The Nursing Faculty and Coordinator receives 3 credits in the Fall, Spring, and Summer for administrative time for theory, laboratory, and clinical preparation. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation. 
  • Possess an active current, unencumbered Colorado RN License. 
  • Two years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience (i.e. clinical instructor, adjunct instructor, unit educator, Hospital nursing educator, etc.)
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) Credential. (CTE Website)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, building strong relationships with CCA’s community partners. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to students, faculty, academic leaders, corporate leaders, and community groups. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations. 
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member. 

PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS
  • Two (2) years of teaching experience, including didactic, clinical, and/or skills-based evaluation and assessment. (i.e. clinical instructor, adjunct instructor, unit educator, Hospital nursing educator, etc.).
  • Experience with nursing program accreditation. 
  • Experience with curriculum development. 
  • Experience with online teaching and Learning Management System (LMS).

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $75,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
