Job Description
Enterprise ArchitectCooley is seeking an Enterprise Architect to join the IS Network Services & Engineering team.
Position summary:
The Enterprise Architect ("EA") reports to the Director of Technology Infrastructure & Development Operations. The EA is a leader in envisioning, evolving, and documenting the firm's enterprise architecture. In coordination with executive leadership, technical subject matter experts ("SMEs"), and product stakeholders, the EA will help to evaluate new technology requests and to scope the associated implementation work. This position will at times be assigned special tasks and projects that will lead extremely advanced solutioning and/or problem-solving methodologies.
Position responsibilities:
- Analyze business needs and the external environment to develop, scope, and enable implementation of enterprise infrastructure
- Balance business outcomes with technical advancement, cost, and other concerns
- Communicate ideas through presentations, reports, and documentation
- Work with stakeholders, management, and subject matter experts to develop and implement technology strategies
- Develop and maintain a technical blueprint of the firm's enterprise
- Assist and participate in the management of projects and deliverables, in tandem with the Project Management department
- Collaborate with IS leadership in developing and maintaining a roadmap for assigned areas
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering teams and stakeholders
- Prepare proposals and estimates for the design and implementation of systems
- Provide mentoring and guidance for technical enablement to IS staff
- Monitor, measure and analyze data and trends against performance SLAs
- Coordinate with and participate in activities with vendors, as required
- Provide clear and grammatically correct documentation, emails, procedures, and status (both verbal and written)
- Comply with all department policies, standards and procedures
- Participate in Change Control and Change Managementprocesses
- Respond to administrative requests and responsibilities in a timely manner
- Collaborate with IS leadership to manage vendors to include scope reviews, tactical execution of project work, weekly status calls and ongoing strategic communications
- All other duties as assigned or required
Skills and experience:
Required:
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- Ability to travel, as required
- 7+ years direct applicable experience (e.g., system administration with advanced systems engineering and enterprise systems design)
- Enterprise architecture expertise for both collocated and cloud datacenters
- Expert-level experience with:
- Enterprise server technology, specifically Cisco UCS
- VMWare and other enterprise hypervisors
- NetApp storage and enterprise storage protocols to include CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, and FC
- Cisco switching and routing
- Hyperscalers, specifically Azure and AWS
- Enterprise backup technologies
- Enterprise DR Methodologies and technologies
- Thorough understanding of enterprise technologies and systems and the ability to understand both the business and technical requirements for new products that will be engineered and implemented by all groups in the firm
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience
- Prior law firm or professional services experience
- Palo Alto Networks firewalls
- Aruba Networks wireless infrastructure
- DevOps technologies and methods
- Current certifications in the above required technologies

- Must have strong analytical skills and outstanding project management skills and be capable of interpreting and applying complex technical information: has knowledge of systems design and implementation in a database environment
- Ability to work independently and to make sound judgments regarding the best course of action to resolve problems; ability to determine when further expertise is necessary and contact the proper individuals as required
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, set priorities, handle a number of matters concurrently and in a timely manner, all within a fast paced environment
- High level of organizational skills required to adequately manage projects, monitor numerous live systems simultaneously, ascertain trends which may indicate problems and keep accurate up-to-date records

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $155,000 - $220,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
