The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and seeks academic hematopathologists to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine.
The successful candidates will be required to share clinical responsibilities for a large, integrated bone marrow, lymph node, and flow cytometry diagnostic service and provide cross-coverage as an Associate Director of the Clinical Hematology and Hematopathology Laboratories that support the patient care at UC San Diego Health's Jacobs Medical Center (including the region's only NCI-designated cancer center), Hillcrest Medical Center, and the state-of-the art Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine (CALM) in La Jolla, as well as our referral/outreach/consultation programs and an expanding clinical integration network. Teaching of medical students, residents, and ACGME-hematopathology fellows is also expected.
Candidates with a track record in the development and application of molecular, cytogenetic, genomic, and epigenomic diagnostics and/or flow cytometry/immunopathologic characterization of benign and neoplastic hematologic disorders, with evidence of scholarly contributions in clinical, translational and/or basic research, are encouraged to apply.
The appropriate series and appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or an MD/PhD in the biological sciences, chemistry, clinical laboratory science, or related field.
Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) in clinical pathology (CP) or anatomic pathology/clinical pathology (AP/CP) or equivalent, with certification or eligible for certification in the ABP-subspecialty of hematopathology.
Candidates with at least one year of subspecialty fellowship training or practice experience in molecular genetic pathology/clinical genomics, cytogenetics/cytogenomics, immunopathology/flow cytometry, hemostasis/coagulation, or hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell therapy are preferred.
Candidates with certification or eligible for certification in the ABP-subspecialty of molecular genetic pathology are preferred.
