Position Summary

The Program Manager of SASP has direct responsibility for developing, implementing, evaluating, coordinating, and monitoring the budget and expenditures for the Black Male Institute (BMI), collaboration/transition programs with Anne Arundel County Public School (AACPS), including Hispanic Youth Mini-Symposium, new outreach initiatives, and developing programs for diverse student populations. The Program Manager serves as the college's Coordinator for BMI. Serves as part of the rotational team providing embedded support for asynchronous online sections of ENG 101A, AMIL, and GBTC off-campus sites. Facilitates campus and community engagement and collaborations. This position will support the management of a caseload of students, providing direct academic and career personal guidance and advocacy to support the academic success, transfer, and graduation of program participants. Facilitate the development of an education, career, and transfer plan from a variety of sources, course selection, and interpretation of academic rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Regularly monitors and documents academic progress and completes follow-up contacts, face-to-face, in groups, through social media, and online community activities. Provides advocacy and makes interventions and referrals for other student support, campus services, and community resources. Assists the director in the implementation of initiatives and supports SASP. The position requires skill in establishing rapport, problem-solving, ability to provide a broad range of services designed to ensure the success of first-generation, low-income, and minority students, including conducting Institutional Professional Development (IPD) sessions for the college community on the targeted population. Additionally, the Program Manager assists the Director in the implementation of high-impact strategies and initiatives that positively affect student success, retention, and completion. The Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve student outcomes, foster an inclusive campus environment, and drive successful engagement across our student community

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct initial interviews for new program participants and status review interviews for continuing program participants to assess academic support, academic, career, and personal advising needs.

Facilitate the development of an educational plan/action plan for program participants which lead to increased retention and completion.

Assist the director with the budget, development, implementation, and coordination of various SASP initiatives, activities, and projects to improve underserved students' academic success, persistence, and completion.

Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations of BMI. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, student feedback, and performance metrics, making recommendations for improvements as needed.

Provide updates and ideas for potential programmatic enhancements.

Assist with the coordination of the Bridge to Success Summer program, AACPS collaborations, provided embedded support for asynchronous ENG 101A sections.

Monitor and document academic progress, withdrawals, faculty referrals, and interim grade reports to determine appropriate intervention needs.

Provide intrusive follow-up academic monitoring and advising for an assigned caseload. Regularly communicate with caseload and serve as a liaison to AACC departments and campus support.

Assist with the coordination of the annual Impact and Excellence Awards Celebration.

Manage a caseload of SASP students

Facilitate the development of an educational plan/action plan for program participants.

Make recommendations for services to be provided to students.

Support and create collaborations with the Office of Student Engagement, Health & Wellness, Disability Support Services, Personal Counseling, Tutoring, Academic Advising & Tutoring Services, Financial Aid, Admissions, Information Services, Community Standards, Diversity Equity Inclusion, and Anti-Racism, and academic departments to provide holistic support for program participants.

Collaborate with college and community resources that provide services to enhance outreach and increase student connections to institutional services.

Collaborate with new student orientation to provide appropriate information for in-person and online student orientations.

Maintain accurate records of program activities, student engagement, and outcomes.

Prepare and present reports on program progress, challenges, and successes to the Director

Utilize data to identify trends, assess program impact, and inform strategic planning.

Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with college priorities.

Oversight of program webpage, social media, and Canvas Monitor the program communication timeline

Other duties as assigned or relevant to the mission of SASP

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher

Minimum two years of experience in providing direct services in an educational, social service, or non-profit environment working, with military/veterans providing mentoring, coaching, academic, personal, and/or career guidance, and advice.

Knowledge of special student program approaches, principles and theories that strengthen resiliency factors for students and develop support structures.

Knowledge of student development theory, engagement, and high impact best practices in higher education.

A high degree of comfort and experience in the online learning environment.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to make group presentations.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Demonstrated experience working with low-income, first-generation students, adult, and military /veteran populations.

Demonstrated team building, collaboration, and partnership work.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the program, including evenings and weekends.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PPT, etc).

Project management skills and familiarity with program evaluation and assessment.

Demonstrated experience with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism and knowledge of cultural competencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Higher Education Work Experience

Three-five years experience
