Summary of Position
The Marine Operations position will be to work within the Center for Sustainable Seafood Systems (CSSS) to plan, supervise and maintain safe field operations in waters adjacent to the NH coast. The individual will be required to have a wide range of capabilities that includes research vessel operation, deployment of oceanographic buoys, instruments, and mooring systems. The person will be responsible for the safety of crew, scientists and students during the field operations with a focus on, but not limited to, aquaculture, research diving, scientific experiments and data collection.
The individual will be supervised by the Director of the UNH CSSS and will work closely with the Director of the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering, the Center for Ocean and Coastal Mapping, and faculty/staff in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of Marine Biology/Aquaculture or a closely related scientific or technical field.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
1. U.S. Coast Guard license of at least the OUPV Level or achievable within 1-year.
2. American Academy of Underwater Sciences certified research diver
3. Open water, rescue, drysuit and nitrox diving certification
4. Certified working with forklifts, cranes and commercial trucks.
5. 4 years of experience managing seafood production from aquaculture systems.
6. Experience deploying and recovering gear at sea.
7. Experience operating vessels in coastal and offshore areas.
8. Knowledge of oceanographic instrumentation
9. Expertise in the design of complex components, equipment, and analysis of experimental data.
10. Strong planning skills for managing and implementing complex tasks or project management course work, training and/or experience.
11. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
