Librarian
Job Description

The Librarian will provide high quality services to enrich our campus community and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. This position reports to the Director of Library Services.
Provide in-person and online reference services to students, faculty, staff and community members.
Create and maintain online instructional resources.
Participate and play a lead role in print and electronic collection development and maintenance responsibilities.
Provide basic technology assistance to library users. and work collaboratively with other librarians and library staff in the use of library hardware and software applications.
Collaborate with other librarians and library staff in use of library hardware and software applications and projects.
Strategize and lead the development of library and information programs and services, including outreach and awareness building activities.
Strategize and lead in the publication of the library webpage, social media outlets, and information resource guides.
Act as a liaison to faculty and administration.
Maintain current awareness of professional practice and commitment to personal career development activities.
Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on college-wide committees.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
Create and conduct information literacy instructions in a variety of modalities.
Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission in a student-centered environment.
Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Waubonsee Community College faculty contract.
Perform other duties and complete projects as assigned by the Director of Library Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution required.
One year of library experience required.
Demonstrated ability in using a variety of formats to provide reference services to a diverse population of learners.
Aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and new services.
Understanding of and commitment to the service role of the library in a learner-centered environment.
Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Library instruction experience, especially in an academic setting.
Familiarity with learning management systems and content management systems (e.g. LibGuides).
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
