Position Summary 
Reporting to the Provost, the Special Advisor to the Provost is a vital member of 
the provost’s senior leadership team, assisting in implementing a broad spectrum 
of strategic priorities, processes, and programmatic initiatives at the university. 
This role also serves as the primary point person in developing, coordinating and 
executing messaging and communications for the Office of the Provost. This 
position requires work after hours and on weekends, due to the flexible and 
responsive nature of this position, for emergency situations or matters that arise.
 
Essential Functions
Represents the interests and priorities of the provost while leading and 
coordinating various initiatives– ensuring confidentiality, timely progress, 
and achievement of goals. 
Leads the implementation of specific strategic and special projects, 
working closely with university leadership and relevant departments. 
Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with key 
colleagues on all of Fordham’s campuses. 
Forges and sustains a set of professional relationships to enhance the 
Office of the Provost’s academic and external affairs objectives, serving as 
a key liaison for the provost. 
Manages communication flow within the Office of the Provost and with 
other departments to promote shared understanding and strengthen 
coordination. 
Serves as the primary point person in developing Office of the Provost 
messaging and in collaborating with the provost around preparing 
presentations for the Board of Trustees and other high-level meetings. 
Attends select committee meetings in the provost’s stead. 
Helps prepare speeches and other communications in support of the 
provost.

Management Responsibilities 
Guides work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or 
student workers. Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is

or compensation. 
 
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience 
Bachelor’s Degree required. 
Minimum of 8 years of experience in higher education or related field with 
at least 2 years of external affairs experience. 
 
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills 
Strategic thinker with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
Strong research ability, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of 
multitasking in a dynamic environment. 
Effective interpersonal skills with a diverse range of internal and external 
groups. 
Demonstrated administrative experience in higher education. 
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
Knowledge of and dedication to the goals of Jesuit higher education. 
Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to 
the goals of Jesuit Education. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
Advanced or terminal degree preferred 
 
Minimum Starting Salary: $125,000 
 
Maximum Starting Salary: $160,000 
 
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
