Job Overview

A junior systems engineer supports the program in maintaining server and system efficiency. Their responsibilities include resolving technical issues remotely, requiring strong programming knowledge and navigation skills. They maintain records of resolutions to prevent recurring system failures. Their tasks may involve network design, implementation, and routing configuration. They ensure optimal systems performance and infrastructure stability, collaborate with IT staff, and find ways to increase system efficiency. Located in San Diego, CA.

Salary Range: $70K to $85K

Work Model: Onsite/In-Office


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Conduct reviews of systems engineering products and provide feedback in a timely manner.
  • Implement requirements processes to include analysis, process setup and improvement, change administration, and tracking.
  • Install and configure computer systems in a Microsoft Windows environment, debug Java and develop scripts.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard Linux-based assets and data.
  • Install and manage computer and network equipment.
  • Manage the storage infrastructure for virtualization.
  • Manage individual tasks and activities to meet deadlines.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Maintain and manage the backup solution utilizing VMware.
  • Communication with other systems engineers about their daily activities.
  • Collaborate with other systems engineers to complete task(s) and manage resources.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • A bachelor's degree or four to eight years of work experience in a related field.
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • Experience with network architectures, IT hardware and software installation, configuration, and support.
  • Proven experience with shell scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office with expert-level skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able be able to pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
  • Current active DoD Secret Clearance and able to maintain.
