POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Position Responsibilities
-
Provides general program information; interprets and explains policies, procedures, rules and regulations regarding Sports Programs, NWAC, and the student recreation center, the RAC; resolves issues and provides assistance to the public, staff, students, other colleges and special interest groups in person, electronically, and by telephone; -
Recruits, trains, and supervises part time group fitness instructors;

Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises work grant and work-study student employees to assist in the daily operations of the RAC;

Leads purchasing for the recreation department. Evaluates and recommends larger equipment purchases for the recreation and athletic fitness center;

Reviews and verifies accuracy of the Athletics and Recreation budgets, including processing all receipts associated with athletics; assist in coordination, processing, and monitoring billing for recreational and athletic activities. Processes all purchase expenditures for the Athletics Department including equipment/supplies and assist in monitoring inventory for athletics;

Provides support to reconcile department travel paperwork;

Assists with coordination of and maintains records of all annual fundraising;

Creates game day contest agreements with visiting schools;

Compiles and organizes all athletic statistical data, compilation and implementingdistribution of comprehensive statistics for home/away contests of all sports as required by NWAC conference. Provide training and review for accuracy and compliance for all statisticians;

Maintains athletic and recreational web pages;

Updates social media regularly for the Athletics and Recreational departments;

Serves as the lead contact person for ongoing maintenance needs. Works with fitness company for preventative maintenance needs;

Schedules and organizes RAC programs such as intramural tournaments, group fitness and other RAC specialty events;

Manages and promotes staff and faculty memberships for the RAC;

Develops and prepares reports to track user visitation and programming participation;

Assists in organizing special events for Athletic Department including sports banquets, Student Athlete Leadership Club activities, and tournaments;
-
May be responsible for ticket sales at athletic events requiring some nights and weekend assignments;

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
High School graduate or equivalent -
Willingness to be flexible and work evenings – possibly late nights and weekends
-
Attention to detail and communication
-
Intermediate ability using Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook
-
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
-
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
-
Proven experiences and knowledge working with diverse populations and groups
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Associate's degree and/or progressing towards a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management or a related degree -
2 years' experience working in a sports setting
-
Experience as a supervisor

Must have the ability to sit for prolonged period of time at a desk/computer workstation. -
Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments.

Work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions and noise.

Operate in a fast-paced environment with a heavy workload and tight timelines.

Must be able to maintain regular and predictable attendance
-
May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 40lbs
