Founded in 1986 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity Seattle – King County has served more than 2,000 families in King County through affordable home construction and preservation, beginning with our very first home in Carnation.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $137,987 - $189,738 DOE.

Summary:*
Modeling our core values to lead with service, respect all people, build community, and deliver results the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer (CMCO) will play a critical leadership role in shaping Habitat’s marketing and communications strategies. This role will collaborate with senior leadership, oversee department operations, and drive both external and internal communication efforts. The CMCO will lead Habitat’s external marketing and communications strategy by serving as the organization’s spokesperson, crafting impactful messaging to connect stakeholders with our mission, positioning Habitat as an expert in affordable homeownership, analyzing stakeholder experiences, and overseeing Habitat’s online presence. Internally, the CMCO will develop and implement communication strategies to align staff with Habitat's values and mission. This role will support enhancing employee experiences, help attract diverse talent, foster continuous feedback and improvement, align internal culture with external brand perception, and equip employees as brand ambassadors

Essential Functions*:
Leadership & Management:
- Develop and maintain cross-organizational partnerships to ensure alignment of programs and strategies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on continued expansion, future priorities, programs, and opportunities for impact.
- Proactively inform and make recommendations to leadership for program strategy and continuous quality improvement in program practice based on data, analysis, research, and industry best practices.
- Partner with leaders across the organization to develop and implement strategies to seek and incorporate stakeholder participation and feedback in data collection, analysis, and reporting on an ongoing basis.
- Lead and oversee the department's engagement in departmental and cross-organization projects.
- Translate strategy into actionable objectives and plans, balancing big-picture context with day-to-day issues.

Department Operations:*
- Responsible for developing and implementing organizational strategy for Marketing and Communications.
- Evaluate department structure, policies, and best practices.
- Direct website strategy and oversee website management, content, performance, and maintenance.
- Responsible for hiring, leading, coaching, and evaluation of staff to achieve work plans and support professional development goals.
- Establish individual and team performance expectations and objectives to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Oversee communications calendar for all Habitat audiences.
- Responsible for overseeing effectiveness of communications.
- Develop and implement organization’s media crisis communications plan and procedures. Responsible for training staff in agency communications, public relations, and brand ambassador requirements.
- Oversee the development and monitoring of the annual budget for department.
- Other duties as assigned.

External Marketing and Communications Strategy:*
- Responsible for standing in as Habitat’s official spokesperson.
- Create and implement external communication strategies that ensure all stakeholders (donors, partners, etc.) understand, feel connected to, and align with Habitat mission, values, and stories.
- Responsible for projecting Habitat as an expert in the affordable homeownership space.
- Responsible for fielding press inquiries and direct to the appropriate spokespeople.
- Partner with Development team to support fundraising efforts, supplying strategic messaging and content to meet individual donors’ interests. Responsible for ensuring integrated, strategic marketing, and fundraising campaigns which reach diverse communities.
- Responsible for analyzing stakeholder experiences through every stage of relationship. Partner with Senior Leaders to develop content for speeches, emails, blog posts, and agency communications.
- Collaborate with Advocacy team to develop materials and talking points to support legislative advocacy efforts.
- Oversee and manage community partnerships and vendor relationships related to marketing and communications.
- Monitor and manage Habitat’s online presence – i.e., social media, blogs, Charity Navigator, GuideStar.

Internal Marketing and Communications Strategy:*
- Create and implement internal communication strategies that ensure all staff and managers understand, feel connected to, and align with Habitat values, policies, standards, and essential information.
- Partner with departments to curate meaningful stories to inspire; speak to the Habitat mission and intended impact; and call people to action.
- Partner with departments to ensure strategic and optimized internal communications aligned with Habitat values.
- Partner with People & Culture Team to optimize employee experiences from “hire to retire”. Partner with People & Culture Team to attract and recruit potential candidates from all walks of life.
- Partner with departments to provide strategic mechanisms for continuous feedback and improvement.
- Partner with departments to integrate and align who we are internally (culture) with how we are perceived externally (brand).
- Partner with departments to ensure employees are equipped as brand ambassadors, speaking to the Habitat mission, and aligning with Habitat values and behaviors.

What *we’d* like to see from you:*
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field
- 7+ years’ experience in Marketing, Organizational Brand Development and Management or related field 5+ years’ experience leading teams in change management and continuous quality improvement
- Proven experience developing and implementing a multi-channel strategic communications plan to accomplish organizational goals.
- Outstanding writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust communication style and messaging for diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to build positive and effective working relationships with individuals of various ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders such as Board, media, program staff, development staff, and clients.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Strong background in public and media relations, ability to identify trends, and develop and maintain strong relationships with the press.
- Proficient in developing website strategy, managing, and producing web content, and strategically using social media and e-marketing tools to achieve organizational goals.
- Prior video and visual asset production experience.
- Ability and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology necessary for successful day-to- day functioning in a business environment; familiar with design concepts and Adobe Creative Suite.
