Colfax, LA hosts a hazardous waste thermal treatment facility, which disposes of fireworks, explosives, and military ordnances. This position will work with a diverse population focusing on the community’s institutional vulnerability and disadvantages. We will measure concentrations of environmentally persistent free radicals to estimate human exposure in Colfax. We will also measure other components of combustion-generated PM across size fractions and detonation-related noise as a co-stressor.
The post-doctoral researcher will work with Dr. Jennifer Richmond-Bryant to continue a community-engaged field study of air quality downwind of a hazardous waste thermal treatment facility. Specific responsibilities will include participating in community meetings to finalize the study plan, set up and operate a network of continuous and real-time samplers, analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication, and present findings at scientific meetings

PhD or equivalent doctorate in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Atmospheric Chemistry, or a similar field.
Experience using and quality assuring air quality sampling equipment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
