Job Description
Facilitate and engage underserved populations in urban regions to provide management instruction to students enrolled in the Farm Business Management program. Instruction is primarily delivered in a one-on-one setting with the student, but also includes web-based video conferencing. Additional classroom instruction is provided as needed, with a potential for on-line delivery. The primary curriculum emphasis for this program includes: Accounting, Financial Management, Business Analysis and Planning, Agricultural Enterprise Evaluation, and Goal Setting. Additional curriculum areas may include: small scale/specialty crop production and technical assistance. Outreach and engagement of farmer students and related industries to enhance cross-cultural experiences will be required in this role.

Required Qualifications
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agriculture education, business, finance, economics or accounting.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement: Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in agricultural operations, agricultural finance, or agribusiness.
  • Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Demonstrates experience in recognizing and removing barriers for underserved populations.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience working with computerized accounting programs.
  • Experience using teaching techniques that support diverse learning styles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Knowledge of basic production practices and direct marketing for fruit, vegetable, and small livestock farms.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.
  • Dedication to teaching and student learning providing quality education emphasizing college level standards.
  • Dedicated to working with multiple cultures, agencies, educational institutions, non-profits, and other partners with a common mission to support food systems across diverse cultures.
  • Experience navigating government and non-profit programs to serve farmer needs.
  • Demonstrate high level of cultural competency and ability to building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning with CLC’s Culture of Caring environment.

Other Requirements
This position requires successful completion of the following:In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
