Post-Doctoral Fellow Position

The Laboratory of Integrative ‘Omics (https://sites.uab.edu/mcdonaldlab/) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow. The ideal applicant has a PhD in genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics or genetics and can program in R and at least one scripting language such as Python. Mastery of the English language including strong writing and public speaking skills is required. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Current projects include research using data from several established cohorts including COPD Etiology of Low-Lean muscle (CCELL), the Million Veteran Project (MVP) and the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine Initiative (TOPMed) among others. Opportunities for method development projects are also available. This work is expected to yield high impact publications. Trainees are also encouraged to develop their own projects enabling essential training and development opportunity for becoming an independent research career.
