Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom is a highly respected, legacy-endowed nonprofit that provides programs and free curriculum to help young people build their knowledge of the state’s vast resources. Ag in the Classroom reaches hundreds of students each year and prepares them to become informed citizens, critical thinkers, and stewards of Wyoming’s future.
SUMMARY:
The Director of Philanthropy is an exciting role that will shape and implement Ag in the Classroom’s strategic approach to fundraising. This role will manage the annual giving campaign as well as build and maintain a major gift portfolio. The Director of Philanthropy gets to work along side a great staff and Board of Directors to raise funds for programs and operating expenses. This position will partner with the Grant Specialist to assist in the strategy and stewarding of grantors. Responsibilities include providing development support to the education team, identifying and cultivating new donors, donor stewardship, and assisting with Board of Director needs. They will also identify and execute high-level donor events & donor experiences.
The Director of Philanthropy is a remote role based in Wyoming and reports to the Executive Director.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising
● Actively manage a portfolio of major gift donors ($5k+)
● Develop and manage annual giving campaign consistent with annual fundraising goals
● Work with the Executive Director to design and implement annual donor stewardship plans
● Support education team with annual fundraising and ensure alignment with goals
● Assist Board of Directors in implementing strategies, annual fundraising plan, grantmaking, and associated activities, including creating marketing pieces as necessary
● Assist with additional fundraising activities such as fundraising and stewardship events
Marketing and Communication
● Work with marketing staff on annual marketing plans to increase donor base
● Support transparent communications between WAIC and constituents
● Work with marketing to provide direct oversight of fundraising communication channels including email, social, and physical mail
Administration
● Maintain accurate fundraising data
● Manage donor and gift information input and output within data system
● Produce fundraising reports and data for Executive Director, staff, and external audiences
● Attend Board of Directors meetings and provide administrative support as needed
● Responsible for any other projects assigned by Executive Director
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor's degree
● Minimum five years of nonprofit fundraising experience
● Demonstrated skills in relationship management and annual fundraising strategies plus major gift solicitation experience
● Evidence of strong writing and presentation skills
● Strong computer skills in basic software (Microsoft Office, general donor software knowledge) and the ability to adapt to specialized applications
● Ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with individuals from diverse and marginalized backgrounds
● Ability to work as a team or independently to achieve outcomes
● A valid Wyoming driver’s license is required
● Knowledge of Wyoming and its agriculture, oil, gas, minerals, outdoor recreation, and tourism industries preferred
● Passion for youth education preferred
● Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs

WORK SCHEDULE: Position will typically work 40 hours per week but may include evenings or weekends as needed to achieve goals. Periodic, typically monthly, travel is required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
